My passion for art started at an early age and has always been a big part of my life and who I am. I am blessed to have parents who have always encouraged me to become better and pushed me to follow my dreams. They have influenced both my creativity and my strong work ethic and I am so grateful for that.
When I was young, I became fascinated with old abandoned barns and houses. There seemed to be an untold story in each structure that was weathered and left behind. My perspective of these buildings that were just passed by and never appreciated really changed and the mystery of these objects intrigued me. I creatively began to capture the history and beautiful textures of these buildings that could be forgotten or removed tomorrow.
The more educated and experienced I became, the more I continued to gravitate towards textures and everyday objects that are so often overlooked. I strive to show these objects in a different state, a more interesting and unique frame to make the viewer stop and look. I love trying to find a unique way of looking at objects and carry that into my portraits. My style is to capture moments as unobtrusively as I can while the subjects interact as they normally would. The most precious and memorable moments happen naturally, without force.
My work as an artist is very similar to my work as a photographer. My paintings incorporate things I love about photography – textures and colors that create a captivating palette that you can enjoy anywhere in your home. Some of my work creates a 2D photographic image that is transformed once I begin to add and remove layers to create a piece that is unique and tells a story. I find painting to be an art that is relaxing and healing, and I take great pride in each of my creations.
